Open an exact instrument#

Open Chart from the rail or an empty canvas. In the new-chart configuration choose the Broker, Live data, Historical data, Instrument and Timeframe, then Add chart. Use the broker for live and historical data is the convenient route when one venue should supply all three roles. Separate sources are an explicit advanced choice, not a promise that differently named contracts have equivalent prices.

The shared instrument picker supports search, pins, recent choices, asset-class sections and available groups. When several sources are present, use Brokers to select one or more sources; the broker filter combines with asset-class filters. Identical ticker text can appear once per broker. Keep those rows separate: their spreads, currencies, contract sizes and trading hours may differ. Show all brokers recovers a search hidden by an old broker filter.

Read the selected chart's context#

A section toolbar operates on the selected chart. Its symbol/OHLC title line identifies that chart, its status, available details and link groups. The account chip and Chart details… help establish the account and source context. Existing charts retain their own account when the top-bar Accounts default changes. A chart can be showing valid historical prices while its live session is still starting; wait for readiness before relying on order entry.

Use the symbol button or Change symbol… in the chart menu to choose another instrument. Use pinned timeframe buttons, the interval menu or More timeframes… to change interval. Pinned timeframes provide fast access; changing timeframe does not turn one contract into another. Each chart owns its session, so changing one chart does not intentionally restart a sibling chart.

Move through time and price#

Drag or scroll within the chart using its navigation controls, and use its price/time axes to inspect an area. Scrolling back can request older history automatically. Loading older bars is a data request, so provider availability and confirmed coverage affect how far you can go. Weekends and exchange closures are not automatically missing data.

Auto controls whether the chart follows the newest bars. Turn it off while studying a historical region; Jump to latest bar returns to current data. Chart right margin leaves future space beside the latest candle; it is a per-chart view preference. The crosshair reports the pointed bar's OHLC in the title line; without a pointed bar it shows the latest bar. Use the current chart timezone when interpreting timestamps.

Crosshair has visibility and synchronization choices: local chart, same symbol or all charts. The synchronization scope is separate from visibility. Choose the same-symbol scope when comparing a five-minute and hourly chart of an instrument; a line across all charts is a visual comparison aid and does not establish price equivalence.

Use menus and keyboard navigation#

Right-click the chart for symbol, timeframe, chart type, indicator, template, trading, drawings, visibility, zoom and chart-management actions. The menu also offers Copy price, a horizontal line at the pointed price, Chart settings…, Chart details… and Panel menu… where applicable. On a narrow toolbar, controls move into More actions; they have not been removed.

Default desktop shortcuts include Cmd/Ctrl+L for symbol, Cmd/Ctrl+Alt+T for timeframe and Alt+Left/Right for previous/next chart symbol. AMM's shortcut manager is the authority if you customised these bindings. The app's Back/Forward-in-tab commands navigate canvas replacement; chart Back/Forward records chart changes and drawing steps, so choose the appropriate history.

  1. Give a screener and chart the same S symbol-link colour.
  2. Select a screener row. Verify the destination chart's exact market and symbol.
  3. Give compatible charts the same T group only if you want their timeframes to follow together.
  4. In Positions & orders, choose a record and use Open in chart, or its supported symbol link, to inspect the relevant event/range.
  5. Review the order/fill marker and detail card before changing the view.

Trading-record navigation retains the record's broker/account identity. If no exact matching opening is available in broker history, an exit-only record can remain exit-only; AMM does not invent a complete trade. Historical trades is a distinct persisted overlay, independent of orders and trade signals. Enable it through chart visibility settings when you want completed executions to remain visible.

Manage several charts#

Use New chart, Duplicate chart, Arrange charts evenly, Maximise chart and Open in new window where offered. A duplicated chart starts from the source configuration; verify its account and trade size before use. A toolbar's right-click menu can Copy current setting to all charts or explicitly show/hide Orders, Events, Calendar, Signals, Indicators and Crosshair, or enable/pause auto-scroll. These commands affect open registered charts; new-chart defaults are configured separately. Use the offered Undo promptly if the change was too broad.

Recover missing or stale content#

Open Chart details and inspect the feed state and execution issue rather than assuming a frozen last price is live. Check Brokers & feeds, the connection cluster and Chart Logs. If an indicator is empty, allow its history warmup and inspect its required inputs. If the chart cannot load older history, preserve the exact symbol/feed/account and reported error for support. Restart chart session retries that chart's session; it is not a broker-position close command. Avoid repeated restarts while history is being prepared.

Choose chart styles and view settings, Add, configure and interpret chart indicators, Trade from a chart and manage protection.
