Trade from a chart and manage protection
Use chart order bars, price menus and position controls while keeping broker and AMM-local orders distinct.

Prepare the chart for trading#
Select the chart and inspect its account, mode, exact symbol and live feed. Enable Trade bar if you want the order controls visible. Chart settings → Trading provides Order bar, Trade buttons, Account / position line and Position details choices; details can be on demand, always open or hidden. These display choices do not close exposure.
The chart's broker, live-data and historical-data sources can be separate. A displayed historical price is not necessarily an executable quote for its broker. Keep the sources aligned unless you have deliberately configured and verified the exact price contract. Wait until the chart session and trade sizing are ready.

- Set the chart's Stake or quantity using its own contract unit and step.
- Use Buy/Sell market controls for a market entry, or right-click the intended chart price and open Trading.
- Choose a supported pending action, such as buy/sell limit or stop at the pointed price. Check which side of the current market the proposed order occupies.
- Review any optional protection and the account/mode in confirmation.
- Send, then watch the pending order or broker position appear. Inspect its actual acknowledged/fill price.
The chart context menu also offers Open order ticket, which is useful when you want a full order form. The toolbar targets the selected chart; select deliberately in a section containing several charts. Turning on Orders shows order/position overlays, while Signals shows study/strategy markers. Neither setting changes what the broker holds.
Manage one exact position#
Open a position's menu or detail card. Supported actions include Edit SL / TP…, Reduce…, Double position, Reverse position, Close position, Copy position id and Show in position history. Their availability follows the session and venue. On a hedging account, several positions can share a symbol: choose the correct position id rather than treating all same-symbol trades as one net exposure.
Reduce sends a partial close for the selected quantity where supported. Double increases exposure; Reverse can close and open opposite exposure and is explicitly confirmed. Do not use Reverse as a shortcut for “close”. A strategy-owned target can require a manual override reason so ownership and subsequent strategy behavior remain explicit.
Broker protection versus AMM-local plans#
SL and TP can amend broker-attached stop-loss/take-profit for the selected position when the broker supports them. Clear/cancel actions remove that protection. Check the broker position after an amend or clear; drawing a line at the same price is not protection.
AMM local plans are position-associated partial stop-loss/take-profit instructions managed by AMM. A plan has its own trigger, reduction size and local-order identity. Multiple plans can coexist. They depend on the AMM session being able to monitor and act; do not describe them as exchange/broker-resident stops. Their status appears in AMM Local Orders, separately from Broker Orders.
Use Set partial TP / SL here from a relevant chart price and choose the exact target position and reduction quantity. Amend the existing local plan when appropriate rather than unknowingly adding another. Cancel only the intended plan or the position's set of local plans according to the action you choose.
Reprice and cancel#
Supported order/protection lines can be dragged to a new price. Check the preview and confirmation; the action amends the targeted broker order or protection, not every order at the same symbol. A working-order menu provides Modify price…, Cancel order and Copy broker order id. AMM-local orders have their own cancel/id actions.
A price can be invalid for the side or tick increment; an amend can be rejected because the order filled or changed while you were dragging. Wait for the final state and inspect Chart Logs when rejected. If an order vanishes from working orders, check fills/position history before assuming cancellation succeeded.
Use chart-wide and account-wide actions carefully#
A chart action targets its session/instrument/position as advertised. Flatten all and the strategy fleet's Kill switch are separate, broader controls. A ladder's Flatten can close the position without cancelling every unrelated pending order. Read the confirmation's account and listed effects rather than inferring scope from the word “all”.
One-click can remove eligible demo/paper entry confirmation while temporarily armed, but LIVE confirmation remains mandatory and reverse/broad operations keep their own guards. UI order-size and price-band checks do not apply automatically to every REST/MCP caller or algorithm.
Review, restart and recover#
Use Order History and Position History to inspect what actually happened. Enable Historical trades if completed executions should remain on the chart; it is separate from orders/signals and can show honest exit-only history where an opening cannot be established.
A chart Restart chart session refreshes the owned chart runtime; it is not a broker flatten operation. Closing a chart or app does not by itself prove broker exposure is flat or broker-hosted orders cancelled. After disconnect/restart, wait for reconciliation and check positions, working orders and local-plan state before new entry. When Send/Amend returned an ambiguous transport error, refresh exact broker state before retrying to prevent duplicates.
