Establish the account before the order#
Open Order ticket from the Trade rail or add it to a canvas beside a chart. A standalone ticket can operate without an open chart: it selects a suitable running session or starts a chart-less manual session for the exact account/instrument. A ticket opened from a chart retains that chart's account context. If the source session disappears, it does not silently switch to another account.
Choose the account in the ticket and verify its Demo/Live mode. The top-bar Accounts menu supplies defaults for new content; it does not retarget every already-open chart or ticket. Select the exact provider instrument. The same ticker text can identify a share, CFD, spread bet or spot instrument with very different economics.

- Select the Account and Instrument. Wait for the session/quote and sizing contract to become ready.
- Choose Market, Limit or Stop, as available for that account/session.
- Set size using the ticket's quantity field or presets. Read its unit: lots, shares, contracts, units or a broker-specific stake are not interchangeable.
- For Limit/Stop, enter the intended price. The ticket exposes applicable time-in-force choices; only use a value supported by the venue.
- Set optional SL and TP when supported. Review their actual prices and relationship to the side/entry.
- Review Est. margin, Trade value, Commission, Available and Margin after order when provided. Missing estimates are not zero costs or guaranteed capacity.
- Choose Buy or Sell, review the confirmation and send deliberately.
- Verify the broker order/position result in the ticket's working orders and Positions & orders. A queued/sent request is not a fill.
For a stock, 10 shares means something different from 10 futures contracts or 10 forex lots. Spot-crypto quantities can be fractional base units. Broker minimum, step and maximum constraints determine valid size. A smaller number on the screen is not automatically a smaller monetary exposure across asset classes.
Understand order intent#
A Market order requests execution at the available market; its fill can differ from the displayed quote. A Limit order constrains price and may remain unfilled. A Stop triggers according to the venue's rules and does not guarantee the trigger price as its fill. Availability of order types, short selling, fractional quantities, protection, time-in-force and market sessions varies by broker/instrument.
Review whether prices are current and whether a market is open. AMM can block order entry while the session is starting, busy, stale, disconnected or lacks valid sizing. Read the reason instead of changing the symbol or size merely to bypass it. Price-band and max-size UI checks are configured in Settings → Trading safety; they are app entry checks, not universal enforcement for arbitrary API clients or strategies.
Use one-click deliberately#
One-click is shared for the relevant account across the ticket, chart order bar and ladder where supported. Arming it can show Keep off / Turn on one-click and explain the remaining confirmations. The local arm is temporary and is not exported as a saved preference. Account-level settings may also define a limited arm period.
LIVE orders always require confirmation; unknown account mode is treated conservatively. Reverse and broad close/flatten operations have their own confirmations. A default account switch to Live is not permission for a queued earlier order to skip Live confirmation. Inspect the confirmation's actual account, side, size, price and instrument before sending.
Split eligible entries#
Settings → Trading safety → Show order splits is off by default. Controls appear only for an account whose supported Hedging mode is confirmed. In Order split → Split into, choose the child count and review the resulting exact quantities. The displayed total remains the intended total, not a per-child multiplier.
Splits create multiple entry requests; queue acceptance does not promise every child fills or an atomic all-or-nothing execution. Total-size safety still applies. Turning the setting off returns entry drafts to one order and invalidates armed split confirmations; it does not merge or change trades already placed. Netting accounts and unsupported quantity grids do not gain a split control.
Modify and cancel working orders#
Under working orders, Modify opens a price edit and Apply submits it; Cancel requests cancellation. Check acknowledgment and final status afterwards. Cancellation can race with execution. An order that filled before cancellation must be managed as a position; resubmitting cancellation does not reverse that fill.
Strategy-owned orders/positions can require manual override confirmation and a reason. Such an override changes management responsibility; do not assume a strategy stops because a manual ticket changed one of its orders.
Recover from rejection or ambiguity#
Read the inline rejection and use Open chart logs for details. Check market hours, account permissions, available buying power, price/quantity increments and venue capabilities. If a network interruption occurred after Send, refresh broker state before trying again to avoid a duplicate entry. An estimate failure can require an explicit Send anyway? decision; treat an unavailable estimate as uncertainty, not approval. Confirm actual orders and positions at the broker when the app cannot reconcile them.
