Set up your first AMM session

Connect the installed application, confirm account and data context, and save a useful first workspace.

Before you begin#

Use the Windows or macOS application and server supplied for your installation. Keep your broker's own application available for independent account checks. You need an active AMM entitlement for protected workloads and the relevant broker or data subscriptions for the markets you intend to use. Installing AMM does not subscribe you to exchange data.

Start with Simulation or an explicitly identified demo/paper account. A LIVE account selection is meaningful even when you only intended to inspect a chart. The chart, strategy and ticket can retain their own account context after the top-bar default changes.

Connect the application#

  1. Launch AMM. If setup is shown, work through its connection and appearance choices. You can reopen setup through Settings → Advanced & about → Run setup.
  2. Open the gear menu and Settings…. In Server connection, inspect the configured API address and run Test connection. Use the address supplied with your installation rather than an address from a screenshot.
  3. Confirm both the API connection and the WebSocket connection. An HTTP test succeeding alone does not prove that live updates are arriving.
  4. If your installation uses Broker Manager, check the relay connection separately. Broker relay explains why a healthy API can coexist with a disconnected venue.
  5. Open Licensing and inspect entitlement and native-engine readiness before starting research. A visible app shell does not establish that the protected engine can run.

For a remote API, use the trusted HTTPS origin and token-file arrangement supplied by your operator. Do not put a token in a URL, paste credentials into chat, or work around a certificate failure by disabling validation.

Select the intended account and feed#

Open Brokers & feeds, connect the desired provider and verify its actual state. Open Accounts in the top bar and choose the default account. Read its broker, account identity, currency and Demo/Live label. cTrader details load when its submenu opens; a briefly empty balance is different from a zero balance.

Account selection changes the default for new work. It does not retarget an existing chart, order ticket or strategy. Confirm the destination within that item before any order. Execution, live prices and historical prices can come from different providers, but every route must identify an exact compatible instrument.

If you only need charts, choose a data-capable connection without assuming that it can execute trades. Massive is data only. Other venues support a restricted set of asset classes or account types. Use the connection matrix before choosing a provider.

Make a workspace#

Use the workspace menu to create or save a named workspace such as Research — first session. Add Chart from the left rail. Rail behavior is configurable: the default opens a new tab on native desktop; an empty tab can be filled in place. Right-click a rail item for explicit add, replace and new-window choices.

Choose an instrument and wait for candles to finish loading. Add a moving average and an oscillator through the real indicator selector. Add Watchlist & screener beside the chart if useful. Resize panels until their important controls are visible. See your first chart for a complete exercise.

Set comfortable defaults#

In Settings → Appearance, choose System, Light or Dark, font scale, density and color-vision-safe colors. In Charts, choose chart defaults and the displayed time zone. These are presentation settings; changing the displayed time zone does not move the underlying UTC observations or redefine an exchange session.

Settings save automatically. Review each row's scope: a device preference, workspace preference and API-server setting affect different audiences. The default top bar hides Day P&L and Flatten all; enable them in Appearance only if you want those controls.

Save the named workspace explicitly after arranging it. AMM also retains working state, but a named saved snapshot is your deliberate return point. Export a workspace and app settings separately when you need portable backups.

Confirm the result#

You should now have a named workspace, a loaded instrument, an identifiable feed and account, a connected live-update channel and a clear entitlement state. Save before switching away. Continue with a simulated trade or a first backtest; connecting a real account is not required to learn the layout.

If a chart is empty, check provider permissions, exact symbol, dates and session hours before repeatedly reconnecting. If the app reconnects, reconcile actual orders and positions before issuing the same action again.
